Melville City Council has ratified a new Collective Agreement between the City and City employees – CUPE Local 456.
A tentative agreement between the two parties through a mediator earlier this month, and the deal was needing ratification from council after the union ratified the deal that same week.
The deal is for three years and runs from 2024 until the end of 2026, and it includes a 4% increase retroactive for 2024, 4% in 2025, and 4% in 2026, which will help the workers keep up with inflation and the rising cost of living.
The collective agreement between the City of Melville and CUPE local 456 expired on December 31, 2023, and bargaining between the employer and the union has been ongoing since March 2024.
