The wait is finally over..
Saskatchewan teachers have signed the dotted line penning a new Provincial Collective Bargaining Agreement, ending nearly two years of negotiations and job action.
The deal, signed by the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation and the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee, includes a class complexity article for the first time.
The agreement, effective from September 1, 2023, to August 31, 2026, establishes a $20 million annual fund to address class complexity, creating over 500 new teaching positions. Teachers will also receive a 9 percent salary increase over three years.
STF President Samantha Becotte described the agreement as a victory for teachers and students, calling it a first step toward addressing classroom challenges.
