The Manitoba government issued a flood watch Thursday for the Assiniboine River, from Shellmouth to Brandon, as forecasters continue to keep an eye on the continuing spring runoff in the western, central and northern Manitoba basins.
The province’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre says spring runoff is underway, or has almost wrapped up in most of southern Manitoba, while warm temperatures has snow melt keeping runoff going in other parts of the province.
When the watch was issued Thursday, the Forecast Centre says most Manitoba basins could see up to 15 millimetres over the next seven days, but they say it shouldn’t affect runoff conditions.
The flood watch will remain in effect on the Assiniboine River until the end of the week.
