Waywayseecappo Police Officer Cleared of Wrongdoing

Manitoba’s Independent Investigation Unit has concluded a First Nations police officer should not face charges after shooting and injuring a man who stabbed him in the head.
It was May 19th the officer went to the Waywayseecappo First Nation on a disturbance complaint in the parking lot of the gaming centre
While speaking with several intoxicated people and trying to arrest one, the officer was stabbed in the head, neck and back before he shot the suspect, hitting him in the side of his face and shoulder.
The suspect remains before the courts.
