Vegas captain Mark Stone scored three times, Jack Eichel (IGH’-kuhl) and Shea Theodore (SHAY) each added three assists and the Vegas Golden Knights won the franchise’s first Stanley Cup by crushing the visiting Florida Panthers 9-3 at T-Mobile Arena.
The six-year-old Golden Knights won the best-of-seven series in five games, with last night’s victory the most lopsided game of the final.
Local ties to the Knights include amateur scout and Whitewood product Brad McEwen, Yorkton’s Kaedan Korczak who was on Vegas’ taxi-squad as well as former Virden Oil Capital & Golden Knight defenceman Zach Whitecloud.
