Saskatchewan Reports 1,427 New Cases, 932 Recoveries, No Deaths

  • As of January 16th, there are 1,427 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 100,173 reported cases.
  • The new cases are located in the Far North West (13), Far North East (10), North West (27), North Central (69), North East (38), Saskatoon (409), Central West (22), Central East (99), Regina (380), South West (44), South Central (54) and South East (86) zones and 176 new cases have pending residence information.
  • 47 SK residents tested out of province were added to Far North East (1), North West (1), North Central (9), Saskatoon (5), Central West (4), Central East (6), Regina (12), South West (1), South Central (2), and South East (6) zones.

  • 100,173 cases are confirmed:
    • 25,197 cases are from the Saskatoon area
    • 21,643 cases are from the North area (9,472 North West, 8,966 North Central, 3,205 North East)
    • 20,837 cases are from the Regina area
    • 13,051 cases are from the South area (2,711 South West, 3,814 South Central, 6,526 South East)
    • 9,745 cases are from the Far North area (4,620 Far North West, 550 Far North Central, 4,575 Far North East)
    • 7,797 cases are from the Central area (1,774 Central West, 6,023 Central East)
    • 1,903 cases have pending residence information
  • 11,465 cases are considered active and 87,747 cases are considered recovered
  • Almost two-fifths (40.9%) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39
  • As of January 16th, a total of 162 individuals are hospitalized, including 150 inpatient hospitalizations and 12 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 162 patients, 60 (37.0%) were not fully vaccinated.
  • The SHA dashboard includes 162 hospitalizations: 150 residents are inpatient: of those, 65 inpatient hospitalizations are a COVID-19-related illness, 55 are incidental Covid infections and 30 have not yet been determined. 12 residents are in ICUs: of those, 7 are for COVID-19-related illnesses, 5 are for incidental Covid infections.
  • No (0) new deaths reported today. 961 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.0%.
  • 1,382,287 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of January 12, 2022, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,157,945 tests performed per million population. The national rate was 1,430,788 tests performed per million population. (Please note that the last update on PHAC website was January 12, 2022.)
  • As of today, the 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 1,169 (97.0 new cases per 100,000).
  • Since January 1, the New Cases by Vaccination Status table has shown a significant number of new cases as unvaccinated. This data is not accurate. This table is no longer featured on the dashboard until a review of the information is complete and the data rectified.
