Additional management actions to help prevent the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease are being taken in Manitoba.
CWD is a fatal disease that affects members of the deer family, which Manitoba first detected in 2021 in five mule deer along the Manitoba-Saskatchewan Border.
Hunters along the province’s western and southern borders must submit samples from their harvested deer, moose or elk’s head and neck for CWD testing.
Hunters around Riding Mountain National Park must submit samples for CWD testing from their harvested deer, moose or elk’s head, neck, lungs and windpipe.
