The Canadian Taxpayers Federation says the carbon tax rebates expected to be on their way tomorrow don’t cover the cost at the pump. Prairie Director Robin Speer says according to the Parliamentary Budget Office, the carbon tax costs the average Saskatchewan household $1,561 and they will receive $1,172 in rebates, meaning they will still pay an extra $390. In addition to the carbon tax, the federal government charges a sales tax and excise tax on gas, and there is also a provincial tax on fuel.
