Saskatchewan reports 449 new cases of COVID-19 Monday

Saskatchewan provided a full COVID-19 update on the Dashboard late Monday, after experiencing technical issues for the majority of the afternoon.

The province recorded the highest single-day total for new cases with 449, surpassing 441 new cases from November 21, 2020. The overall case count is 59,165.

The new cases are located in the Far North West (40), Far North East (19), North West (102), North Central (43), North East (38), Saskatoon (105), Central West (6), Central East (9), Regina (13), South West (11), South Central (9) and South East (11) zones and 43 new cases have pending residence information.

Ten (10) cases with pending location were assigned to the Far North West (Sept 10 (1)), Far North East (Sept 3 (1), Sept 9 (3)), North Central (Sept 8 (1), September 10 (1)), Saskatoon (August 26 (1), September 7 (1)), and South Central (Sept 11 (1)) zones.

One (1) SK resident tested out-of-province has been added to the case counts in the Saskatoon zone (from September 9 (1)).

The province notes over one-third (35%) of new cases are in the 19 years and under age category, and slightly more than one in ten (10.7%) new cases was fully vaccinated.

Of the 209 people in hospitals, 168 are receiving inpatient care and 41 are in ICU. The province says of the 209 patients, 162 were not fully vaccinated.

There were 414 recoveries, increasing that total to 54,764. However, active cases in the province rose to 3,776, including 120 in the Central East region.

Four more deaths were recorded: one in the North West region and three in the North East region, bringing the provincial total to 625.

An additional 3,110 COVID-19 tests were done in Saskatchewan, bumping the total up to 1,066,050.

The 7-day average of daily new cases is 377 or 31.3 new cases per 100,000.

Regarding vaccines, 655 first doses were administered and 839 second doses were given, for a total of 1,494 new doses reported today.
