Swan Valley Tigers capture 2nd Rural Manitoba 9- a side Football League title in 3 years

The Swan Valley Tigers capped off a perfect season this past Saturday with a 24-16 win over the Dauphin Clippers to capture their 2nd straight Rural Manitoba 9- a side Football League title.

“Ya it wasn’t the most ideal conditions to play a championship game, and the conditions did play a little factor, but hats off to both sides for a great game, both teams battled the conditions and we are glad we were able to come out on top to cap the undefeated season,” said Tigers Coach Reg Ellingson.

It was a tight, defensive game throughout most of it with the Tigers leading 7-3 at the half-time, and Ellingson said they knew it would be a tough battle.

“Dauphin played us pretty tough all year long, they are well coached football team and they gave us all they had with their strong running game and athleticism.”

The Tigers won the 2019 league title, while the 2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic.
