Sask. Deficit Grows

The Saskatchewan government’s mid-term report shows drought drove up the provinces deficit. Initially, Saskatchewan’s government was budgeting for a $2.6 billion deficit for 2021-22, but that figure crept up $97 million to $2.71 billion. In terms of expenses, the province saw a $1.8 billion increase from budgeted from Crop Insurance claims, the largest payout for crop insurance in the province’s history, with a total payout of $2.4 billion
