A Sask. RCMP Member Will Go To Trial For Assault

The case of a Carlyle RCMP officer charged in connection with an on-duty incident last October, has been committed for trial. Mounties stopped a vehicle in Arcola, where a man in the vehicle was arrested by Constable Dani Zaya. During the interaction with the man, Zaya allegedly used pepper spray on the man. A complaint was made to the Carlyle Detachment in November, and following an investigation, Zaya was arrested in June, and charged with one count of Assault with a Weapon. He remains free on conditions, and his trial has been set for April 20-22, 2022, in Carlyle Provincial Court.
