Last Donation for the 2023 Christmas Season

Our final donation for Christmas of 2023 went to the Salvation Army in Yorkton. We presented them a $1,000.00 cheque. Since the inception of the GX94 Christmas Goodies cookbook we have been able to donate approximately $9,000.00 to the Yorkton Salvation Army.

I have two more businesses that I would like to thank for being apart of the 2023 GX94 Christmas Goodies cookbook. Legacy Co-op in Yorkton has been apart of the cookbook practically from the very first year that we started selling it. I remember one year selling over 250 cookbooks in 30 minutes at their store. That was a really busy time. They have been a sponsor of the cookbook providing the ingredients in past years for me to do all of the baking as well. And thank you to the Legacy Co-op Liquor Store this year for having me at their location to sell the cookbook.

And as always thank you to YOU! I don’t know if the GX94 listeners out there who have supported my cookbook really know how much it means to me. This started as an idea for on air, send me your recipes and Teach Tonya How to Bake! I was newly married and had no idea what I was doing in the kitchen those 14 years ago. I’ve learned a lot and received hundreds of recipes since then, and the 2023 GX94 Christmas Goodies cookbook marks our 10th edition. It’s an award winning cookbook winning the 2023 Western Association of Broadcasters Gold Medal Award for Community Service.

But most importantly listening to the stories listeners tell me when they come to buy their copy. One lady in Yorkton said that her friend always bought her a cookbook each year, and now that her friend has passed, she is going to carry on the tradition. A lady who I met in Norquay said that her mom used to buy all of the girls the GX94 Christmas Goodies cookbooks at Christmas, and she is carrying on the tradition. A couple from Roblin drove into Yorkton to pick up their copy. A listener from Esterhazy drove to Churchbridge to purchase his copies for his wife, daughter, and granddaughter. And a listener from Archerwill made the trip to Preeceville to get his.

I am truly touched by the support, participation, and love I have received because of the GX94 Christmas Goodies cookbook. This is 100% a labor of love, and it’s pretty cool when I get referred to as the “cookbook lady”. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

We have one more donation to make in the coming months, and that will bring us to having donated $100,000.00 since the inception of the GX94 Christmas Goodies cookbook in the GX94 listening area. It’s a pretty amazing statement to be able to make.

Happy New Year!
