This May will mark my 17th year working at GX94. During the summer of 2006 I did my college practicum at GX94. Luckily Brad Bazin said I had a job waiting for me after I was done my second year of the Broadcast Journalism program I took in Lethbridge, AB. 2007 I moved back home and started off as an overnight announcer, yep, midnight to 6am! (That’s way back in the day when there was such a thing as overnight announcers). Luckily I worked overnights for only a few months, then I was the evening/swing announcer. In 2010 I became the GX94 Midday Host, and have enjoyed this chair and working 9:30am-2pm on the airwaves ever since.

I have been lucky enough to work with some fantastic co-workers, making lifelong friends and having so much fun on the air. I’ve seen many rising stars while hosting GX94 Star Search. I’ve met a ton of country artists in the industry, like Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Florida Georgia Line to name a few. And being on stage at Dauphin’s Countryfest in front of 16 thousand people! That’s all pretty cool.

But NOTHING beats meeting Garth Brooks before his concert in the summer of 2019 when he was in Regina. There’s no way my boss was letting me do a regular interview with this icon. Brad is always pushing us to make sure it’s interesting, new, fun, something different. SO ….. I played a game with THE GARTH BROOKS! -Tonya Cherry-
