Olivia and I host the 44th annual Sturgis Kin Club Mini Miracle from 7-9pm. Listen on GX94 or come on down to the composite school gym for some great entertainment, and don’t forget to RING THOSE PHONES

Here are some tips on becoming a better singer than me:

1️⃣ Warm up those vocal cords: Before you start belting out those high notes, it’s crucial to warm up your vocal cords. Just like any other muscle, your voice needs proper preparation to perform at its best. Simple exercises like humming, lip trills, and gentle scales can do wonders for your vocal range and flexibility.

2️⃣ Embrace the power of breath control: Breath control is the backbone of every great singer. Practice breathing exercises such as diaphragmatic breathing, where you fill your lungs from the bottom up, to develop better breath control. Remember, the more efficiently you control your breath, the longer and stronger you can hold those notes.

3️⃣ Discover your vocal range: Understanding your vocal range is crucial for selecting the right songs and techniques that suit your voice. Experiment with different scales to identify your comfortable range, from low to high notes. This knowledge will help you choose songs that highlight your strengths and avoid straining your voice.

4️⃣ Find your unique style: Singing is not just about hitting the right notes; it’s about infusing your personality into every performance. Experiment with various genres and styles to find the one that resonates with you the most. Whether it’s pop, jazz, rock, or classical, embrace your uniqueness and let your voice shine through.

5️⃣ Learn from the greats: Take inspiration from legendary vocalists who have paved the way before you. Study their techniques, phrasing, and emotional delivery. Observe how they control their breath, interpret lyrics, and connect with their audience. But remember, while it’s essential to learn from others, always stay true to your own voice.

6️⃣ Practice, practice, practice: Becoming a better singer requires dedication and regular practice. Set aside dedicated time each day to hone your craft. Focus on vocal exercises, scales, and challenging songs. Consistency is key, so make singing a part of your daily routine, just like brushing your teeth!
