I was lucky enough to hear Tim & The Glory Boys perform this live last month and it still hits harder than ever. The song is all about wanting to get away from the cold and get to some place warm, the beach to be specific. It’s a country/island anthem that’ll get you feeling tropical in no time.
Neal McCoy – The Girls of Summer
A fun 90s country classic that, to me at least, has the musical energy of those 1960s beach party movies. It’s all about looking forward to the summer, as well as the fashions that the women will be wearing once the time comes. I’ll be honest, I do miss wearing shorts and tank tops.
Keith Urban – Where The Black Top Ends
“I’m going to kick off my shoes and run in bare feet where the grass and dirt and the gravel all meet.” That is summer in a sentence, folks. Driving on gravel roads, wearing shoes that aren’t winter boots, the smell of freshly cut grass, that’s all that anyone wants out of warm weather. It’ll be here before we know it!
Old Dominion – No Hard Feelings
To be frank, Old Dominion’s entire Time, Tequila & Therapy album is a whole summer vibe, but the song that’s the most summery is “No Hard Feelings”. Although the song is about a mutual breakup, the music itself transports you to swinging in a hammock on a bright, warm day. Like the song says, there’s “no bad vibes”.
Madeline Merlo – Motel Flamingo
A song all about a road trip? Heck, yes! Road trips are the best in summer, especially when it’s with your best friends. “Stay cool in a lime green pool.” Don’t mind if I do! Plus the entire music video obvious has a whole flamingo theme, I’m already planning my road trip for later this year.
I know it’s technically spring, but we are in the home stretch of all this cold wintery weather being done. In the meantime though, let’s crank up the volume and let the music take us to our happy place. It’ll be feeling like summer in no time. Stay warm! 🎶🌴
