The Yorkton Terriers dropped their 6th straight on Tuesday night losing 8-2 to the Battlefords North Stars.
The North Stars got the only goal of the 1st in the late stages on the PP as with 38 seconds left in the period, Kian Bell took a feed in the top-right circle and snapped home his league leading 45th goal of the season over the right shoulder of Tysen Smith.
Shots after 1 were 20-10 Battlefords.
In the 2nd, the Terriers got the equalizer just 6:27 into the 2nd as Clay Sleeva went in on a 2 on 1 and snapped it short-side on Josh Kotai for his 13th of the year to make it 1-1.
But the North Stars stormed back in a big way with 4 unanswered off the sticks of Steven Kesslerling, Kian Bell (2) and Zane Florence to increase the home-side’s lead to 5-1 towards the late stages of the second frame.
Dylan Ruptash though cut the Terriers’ back within three at 15:25 of the 2nd for his 20th to make it 5-2 before Jake Southgate regained Battlefords four goal lead just 3 minutes later.
The SJHL leading scorer would add to his league leading goal total in third period adding two more, his 48th and 49th of the season to wrap up the scoring.
Josh Kotai made 35 saves on 37 shots in goal for his 29th win of the season, while Tysen Smith got the start in Terrier goal and made 31 saves on 37 shots before giving way to Caleb Allen, who allowed 2 goals on 14 shots in the final frame.
