GX94 Supper in the Field – Dropmore, Manitoba

Supper in the Field last week was beautiful. We went to Dropmore, Manitoba, to meet our winners Brett and Jennifer Baueriess. What a lovely family. Jennifer told us that they had won Supper in the Field in 1994-1995. That would make them one of our first winners. Pretty cool.

Brett and Jennifer had a lot of friends and family members there that night to celebrate with them. Jennifer’s mother who is 85 still brings out a meal to everyone working in the field each Harvest. Pretty incredible.

Like so many family farms, each member takes turns bringing supper to the field. Between Jennifer’s sister, sister-in-law, and daughters, delicious meals are brought out to everyone in the field. Jennifer thanked us for having Supper in the Field, as we hear so often, it’s a break for the cooks on the farm. That’s exactly what we love about GX94 Supper in the Field.

And the babies! I’ve said this before, but before I had kids, a baby was cute, but that was the extent to it for me. NOW, it’s a physical reaction when I see a baby. I just want to eat them up. And there is a word for that, I just don’t know what it is, but when you see a baby and they are just so cute and you can’t help yourself, you just want to schmooch them, and hug them, and hold them! And smell their hair!!!!! Whatever, I know the mom’s out there reading this know exactly what I mean. Mother Nature has an interesting sense of humor when it comes to hormones’ and babies. This cutie is Jennifer’s nephews 7 month old. And the one in Jennifer’s arms in the first picture is her grandson.

Tapps Sports Lounge and Grill in Yorkton outdid themselves once again. Beef on a bun with a tossed salad, and roasted potatoes. You can barely see the potatoes on my plate, because I didn’t have any left by the time I remembered to take a picture. They were done in a butter dill sauce and oh my goodness I would have sat there with a bowl full of just the potatoes if I thought it would have been allowed. But manners do have to come into play sometimes.
