Water Security Agency invests over $18 million toward major water infrastructure projects

Saskatchewan’s Water Security Agency is pumping more than $18 million into six major water infrastructure projects in eastern Saskatchewan, including several within our listening area.

Low-level outlet rehabilitation will be completed at Theodore Dam, including the replacement of the control gates, along with the addition of a number of safety upgrades.  In addition, the WSA also plans to assess the condition of the existing spillway, and make interim repairs to extend its lifespan.

Meanwhile, interim repairs will be done at Echo Lake Dam, to extend the life of the structure, while improving operator and public safety, until the control structure can be replaced.

And at the Round Lake (Sinfield) Dam in the R.M.of Kelvington, interim repairs will be made to the control structure, including the replacement of the bridge deck and supports.  These upgrades will make sure that Agency staff and snowmobiles can safely make use of the deck structure, as it forms part of a trail system.

As well, the Agency says the overall rehabilitation work at the Moosomin Dam will wrap up this summer.

These projects are considered a priority under the Agency’s 10-Year Rolling Infrastructure Program, aimed at maintaining these structures, to ensure the safety and security of Saskatchewan residents.
