Lost Landmarks.

I miss seeing a grain elevator in every town; for me, it was the true town sign, not the one on the highway. Those towering structures were beacons, signaling the heart of each community. I used to look for the elevator to see which community we were approaching on our travels. There was something comforting in watching the silhouette of an elevator grow larger as we drew near. Now, we have to rely on impersonal highway signs, which lack the charm and character those old elevators had. I long for the days when elevators dotted the prairies; every town had them, standing tall as symbols of the local spirit and industry. Just last Friday, I captured a moment that revived those feelings—I took a picture of the elevator with the sun setting behind it in Foam Lake. That golden light brought back a flood of memories and a deep appreciation for the iconic structures that once were. #Nostalgia #PrairieLife #TravelMemories #LostLandmarks
