SaskEnergy invests $50 million to boost natural gas capacity in the Yorkton and Regina areas

SaskEnergy has announced a 50-million-dollar investment into a system expansion project, aimed at meeting the growing energy needs of eastern Saskatchewan.

Work has begun on the Regina East Expansion Project, to increase natural gas capacity in the Yorkton and Regina areas, for residential, commercial and industrial growth.

The project which is expected to be completed by late 2025, will see 11 kilometres of new gas lines and a new compressor site built southeast of Regina, adding another 14-thousand gigajoules per day of capacity to the Yorkton area, while making the system more reliable in the Regina area.

The announcement was made Wednesday in Yorkton, with Mayor Mitch Hippsley, Yorkton MLA Greg Ottenbreit and SaskEnergy President and CEO Mark Guillet on hand.
