Yorkton Terriers; Melville Millionaires improve their records to 3-0 to stay atop Viterra division

TERRIERS 6, BRONCOS 2

In a clash between undefeated teams, the Yorkton Terriers unleashed a three-goal period to clinch a 6-2 road victory over the Humboldt Broncos on Friday night at the Elgar Petersen Arena.

This win marked the Terriers’ first triumph in Humboldt since February 2020, ending a seven-game winless streak against the Broncos.

Captain Jaron Desnoyers bolstered his league-leading point total with a goal and an assist, bringing his season tally to ten points.

Contributions also came from David Coyle, Riley Cormier, Tylan Henrikson, and Aiden Knutson, who each found the back of the net.

 Ethan Farrow secured his third consecutive win in the Terriers’ net, stopping 27 of 29 shots. Meanwhile, Broncos goalie Eduoard Gauthier made 32 saves in the losing effort.

Rylan Hue and Tre Fourquette responded with goals for the Broncos, who now stand at 2-1 for the season.

The Terriers are set for a quick turnaround, facing the unbeaten Kindersley Klippers at home on Saturday night, with the puck dropping at 7:00 PM.



HOUNDS 2, MILLIONAIRES 4

The Melville Millionaires rallied from an early 2-0 deficit, scoring four unanswered goals to secure a 4-2 victory over the Notre Dame Hounds on Friday night at home.

Caden Drury spearheaded the offense with two goals and one assist, propelling the Mils to their third consecutive win to kickstart the season.

Jadon Iyogun and Raiden Zacharias also found the net, while 17-year-old Taylor Tabashniuk made 24 saves on 26 shots, earning his first SJHL win.

Anthony Nolan and Ian Buors scored for the Hounds, who dropped to 0-3 on the season.

The two teams will face off again in the second part of the home-and-home series on Saturday night at the Duncan McNeill Arena in Wilcox.
