The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team is investigating the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old man by RCMP on Fishing Lake First Nation on September 24.

The man, wanted in connection with multiple robberies, was involved in a high-speed chase after stealing a school van.

RCMP officers fired on the van during the pursuit, and the man was later found unresponsive.

A loaded shotgun was recovered from the van.

SIRT is now investigating the police conduct, while the RCMP continues to investigate the man’s actions.
