Amber Alert Ended. Baby found safe

On Thursday the RCMP issued a provincewide “Amber Alert”, and just over 30 minutes later police were able to report a successful resolution.

The Alert was issued just after five o’clock reporting a five day old baby had been abducted from the health centre in Montreal Lake just after one in the afternoon.

Before six o’clock the RCMP had reported the baby had been located in Big River, and they had a suspect in custody.

Police said EMS was checking on the baby, but he appeared to be fine.

When Amber Alerts are issued, media outlets will broadcast names and pictures of the people involved. When an Amber Alert is resolved, those photos and names are immediately removed from web pages and social media posts to protect the privacy of the people involved. For example, if the RCMP lay charges in this investigation, the suspect’s name and picture can again be broadcast to the public.

Police say they will release more information as their investigation continues.
