United Farmers of Alberta’s delegate body has made a $500 donation to BGC Yorkton,to support their operations.
Lorraine Oranchuk, the CEO of the Boys and Girls Club, was appreciative of the funding, saying it could be used in any number of areas, including their nutritional programming, to purchase supplies for their after school programs, to help kids with their homework.
Oranchuk says their programs have been extremely busy, especially in the Teen Centre, where she notes the numbers there have risen 500 per cent or more over the past two years, which brings additional costs, to support the youths who participate in the program.
UFA delegate Travis Dreger says that each year, they get to make a $500 donation to the non-profit charity of their choice, and this year, they chose the Boys and Girls Club, noting that as they’re already actively involved with 4H, they chose to support another youth-oriented organization this year.
