Saskatchewan announces regulated child care fees to be lowered to $10 a day, starting April 1st

Good news for Saskatchewan parents, as the province has announced it is teaming up with Ottawa, to reduce parent fees for regulated child care in the province to ten dollars a day, starting April 1st.

The goal was to bring child care costs to that level by 2025-26, but with today’s (MON) announcement, Saskatchewan has reached that goal three years ahead of schedule.

Families with kids under the age of six, attending daycare on a full-time basis, can expect to pay $217.50 a month, with monthly savings for each child in care, to reach an average of $395 to $573.

As of the end of 2022, there was just shy of 19,800 regulated child care spaces operating in 144 centres across the province.
