The Swan Valley Stampeders of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League have announced a new Head Coach for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
On Thursday, the club revealed that Josh Tripp will take on the role of bench boss.
“Josh knows our organization well and embodies what it means to be a Stampeder,” stated Stampeders President Evan Morden. “He understands our culture and is eager to help players aim for success.”
Tripp, a familiar face in the MJHL and the Stampeders family, played 174 games for the Stamps, amassing an impressive 100 goals and 101 assists, totaling 200 points in both regular and postseasons.
Before returning to the Stampeders, Tripp was serving as Head Coach for the Parkland Rangers in the Manitoba Male Under-18 AAA Hockey League this season.
“Coaching the Stampeders is an opportunity I couldn’t let slip,” Tripp expressed. “Leading the team I grew up watching and played for during my junior years is a dream come true.”
Assistant Coach Brad Fox will continue in his current role, while Darren Webster remains as Associate Coach and Interim General Manager.
“Our goal for the rest of this season is to establish our team identity and make a strong playoff push,” Tripp said. “We’ve got a lot of talented players with the potential to create a great team. While the start hasn’t met expectations, there’s still plenty of season left.”
Tripp has already resumed his duties and will be on the bench as the team heads south to face the Niverville Nighthawks on Friday and Portage Terriers on Saturday night.
