The inaugural meeting of the new Melville City council was held on Monday which included included the administration of the oath of office and the appointment of the deputy-mayor.
All members of city council were elected to their positions via acclamation which includes returnees Andrew Rondeau, Lori Kraft & Vince Thiessen as well as newcomers to City Hall in Doug Mark, Rodney Kuciuk and Linda Heshka.
Joe Kirwan became the city’s mayor after he defeated two others in last week’s civic election.
Kirwan says himself and council will hit the ground running with the completion of orientation, the approval of the utility budget needed by the end of the year and then the focus will turn to working on the city’s capital budget for 2025.
