Dauphin man arrested after standoff at city residence

Dauphin RCMP received an unwelcome surprise at a home in the city on Wednesday night.

Shortly before midnight Wednesday, Mounties attended the home on Second Avenue Northwest, to speak to a resident, in an effort to obtain information.

When officers knocked on the door, they were met by a man holding a rifle, who retreated inside the home.

After quickly containing the surrounding area, RCMP members were eventually able to convince the man to surrender peacefully.

At the scene, Mounties found a loaded firearm and a small amount of ammuntion.

37-year-old Ryan Joseph Fosseneuve, of Dauphin, is in custody facing a total of four charges: Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Careless Use of a Firearm, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.
