Hey friends! Monday night was an absolute blast as Brett Kissel took the stage in Yorkton, and wow, what a show! I had the awesome opportunity to meet him backstage before it all kicked off. (Didn’t get a pic, though.) We shared a fun moment over a throwback pic of him with Tonya and Danny from Countryfest 2015, which brought out some great laughs and memories. Brett even remembered rocking the GX94 Backyard Concert 10 years ago!
In the excitement, I got to introduce Brett to all of you, but I was so caught up in the moment, I forgot to introduce myself! So, if you were there, I was the gal who brought him to the stage. 🙋♀️
The concert itself was incredible. Brett’s acoustic storytelling was like a journey through his life, from a letter he got from Johnny Cash as a kid to his funny story about wining and dining a label exec. The atmosphere was just perfect!
And it only got better when his CCMA-winning pals, Tyler Vollrath on the fiddle and Brendan Waters on the keys, joined in. The three of them created such a rich, full sound that was pure country magic.
To top it all off, Brett introduced us to a special guest, Branlin Shockey. You might know his dad, Jim Shockey, but Branlin’s talent is all his own. His voice and songs really stood out, and I’m hoping we’ll be playing his music on the air soon!
It was an amazing night, and I’m so grateful to have been part of it. Can’t wait to see what the next concert in Yorkton brings!
