Yorkton Terriers drop home ice decision to league leading Melfort Mustangs



The Yorkton Terriers dropped their third game in the last four after a 7-3 loss to the Melfort Mustangs at the Westland Insurance Arena.

Reilly Kotai, Logan Belton and Kaleb Binner all scored twice for the Mustangs who captured their 31st win of the season.

Jeff Hammond replied with two goals for the Terriers, while William Leonard also scored.

Mustangs netminder Kristian Coombs stopped 32 of 35 shots to earn his league-leading 21st win over the season, while Terriers’ goalie Ethan Farrow made 27 saves in the loss.

The Terriers’ return to action on Saturday night taking on the Notre Dame Hound as part of Hockey Day in Saskatchewan in Canora with puck drop at 7:30 PM.


Nick Genette’s 32 stops leads Melville Millionaires to divisional win over the Weyburn Red Wings

Nick Genette stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced to help the Melville Millionaires beat the Weyburn Red Wings 3-1 on Friday from the CN Community Centre.

Jadon Iyogun, Brendan Olson and newcomer Devon Winder scored for the Mils while Ryder Rommelare replied for the Red Wings who had their five game win streak come to an end.

The Millionaires welcome another Viterra division opponent to town on Saturday night hosting the Estevan Bruins starting at 7:00 PM.
