Provincial Government Funding Policing Initiatives in City of Yorkton

The Saskatchewan government is providing 330 thousand dollars for policing in Yorkton.
It will fund 3 positions in 2019-20 and Mayor Bob Maloney said they appreciate it “because it does allow our police force to conduct investigations that we otherwise wouldn’t have the manpower to do.”
“Drugs and gangs continue to be an issue and the province realizing it’s a lot for a small city to take on our own, so any kind of funding we can receive to help…is appreciated.” he said of how the funding will also help police in other areas.
The money comes from the Municipal Police Grant, which Maloney says isn’t new money, as it’s granted every year.
