A Fishing Lake First Nation man, who admitted to Driving While Disqualified, will learn his fate later this week.
Court heard that last October, 57-year-old Darwyn Desjarlais was pulled over in Yorkton, while under a 5-year driving ban.
He says he took over driving his mother’s vehicle, because she was shaky and dizzy from a diabetic episode.
However, Desjarlais has 21 previous driving convictions, including 8 for Impaired Driving and 10 for Driving While Disqualified.
The Crown is asking for a 15 to 18 month jail sentence, while the defense is requesting an 18-month conditional sentence, to be served in the community.
In Yorkton Provincial Court this (Mon) afternoon, the judge adjourned his decision until Friday.
