New court date for Cote First Nation man facing Second Degree Murder charge

A Cote First Nation man charged with Second Degree Murder in the death of a toddler, has appeared in court again.

24-year-old Waylon Severight was in Yorkton today (Fri), where he was remanded in custody to April 28th.

RCMP say the accused was known to the victim, 21-month-old Lorenzo Cote.

In November of 2020, emergency crews were called to a Canora residence on a report of a one-year-old boy needing urgent medical care, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
