Stampeders drop Game 5 in double OT on Saturday night; still lead series 3-2

The Swan Valley Stampeders dropped their 2nd straight home game of their Best of 7 first round series after a 4-3 Game 5 loss in Double OT on Saturday night.

Deepkaran Hans knocked home the rebound through the five-hole of Kobe Grant just 29 seconds into the 5th period to help the Kings cut Swan’s lead in the series to 3-2.

After Jayden Harris opened the scoring in the first, the Stamps got back to back girls from Callum Halls and Jakob Jones to help the Stamps lead 2-1 after 1.

In the 2nd, the Kings dominated and got rewarded with a couple of markers from Matthew Gough and Anthony Bax to put the visitors up by one through 40 minutes.

The Stampeders got equalizer with just over 9 minutes left into the third as Justin Keck potted home a rebound in front for his 5th of the playoffs to force the overtime periods.

Cole Sheffield got the start for Dauphin and only lasted one period after allowing 2 goals on 15 shots.  Dmtryo Kubritsky came in, in relief and made 15 saves on 16 shots.

The two teams will now meet in Game 6 on Tuesday night from Credit Union Place in Dauphin for a 7:30PM MB time puck drop.
