Window to appeal property assessments open in Yorkton, city crews begin inspection of storm drains

The property assessment appeal process is now open in Yorkton.

Mayor Mitch Hippsley says that residents and businesses can contest the value of their property.
Hippsley says if something has changed on the property and received a new assessment in the mail, and don’t agree with it, an appeal can be made. An appeal can also be made if no changes to the property have been made, but still disagree with it.
He stressed if you’re making an appeal, you’re appealing the value of the property from 2021, not taxes.
Appeal forms can be found on the City of Yorkton website or calling the Finance Department at 306-786-1736.
The appeal process will be open until April 14th.
Spring cleaning
It’s spring cleaning time for the city of Yorkton.

Mayor Hippsley says that city crews will be inspecting and cleaning out storm drains and catch basins.
He is calling on residents to help out by reporting a storm drain issue online at www.yorkton.ca or call the Public Works Department at 306-786-1760. Residents can also clear a channel of ice and debris to allow melt water to drain away.
Hippsley adds that last week alone, the city had a few hundred phones call regarding snow, ice and water.
