SGI Traffic Safety Spotlight On Reporting Drunk Drivers

Impaired driving is SGI’s traffic safety spotlight for April, but this time from a different angle.

Spokesperson Tyler McMurchy says the insurance company is encouraging residents to report drunk drivers, stating it’s not snitching on them, but rather could be saving their lives.

Between 2017 and 2021, impaired driving collisions killed an average of 34 people per year in Saskatchewan.

In 2022, RID calls have led to more than 370 criminal code charges, 130 roadside suspensions and 50 other charges.
