Catholic Schools Win Appeal in Theodore School Case

The Saskatchewan Court of Appeal has ruled in favour of the appeal of the Theodore School court decision.
In April of 2017, Yorkton Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Donald Layh ruled that Catholic schools must no longer receive funding for non-Catholic students.
Today’s (Wed) Court of Appeal decision overturns that ruling.
However, the Good Spirit School Division now has the option to ask the Supreme Court of Canada to consider the case.
The Theodore Public School closed in June of 2003, but community residents were successful in converting it to a Catholic school by September of 2003, and it remains open to this day.
