The first day of the GX94 Airwaves for Health Radiothon wrapped up.
Executive Director of the Health Foundation Ross Fisher says 95,980 dollars was raised on Monday, and believes it might be a record for the highest amount raised on the first day.
Donations are going towards the purchase of two major pieces of equipment at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre this year.
The current equipment at the hospital can not meet the demand for COVID-19 and other testing, so funds will go towards a GeneXpert 16 which will allow the lab to run tests for COVID and the flu.
The Yorkton Regional Health Centre is also the only regional hospital in Saskatchewan to not have automated dispensing, so donations will also go towards a Pyxis medication dispensing system.
Day 2 will begin tomorrow morning (Tues) at 6AM SK time.
Donations can be made by phone at 1-800-636-3243.
