Day Two of Airwaves for Health Radiothon Has Come and Gone

The 15th edition of the GX94 Airwaves for Health Radiothon wrapped up, and what’s left is the total amount raised.

Executive Director of the Health Foundation Ross Fisher gave a preliminary total of 166,075 dollars raised from the two days, including 70,095 dollars raised today (Tues); 95,980 dollars was raised yesterday (Mon).

Fisher expects to have a final total tomorrow (Wed), as he said there are two businesses wrapping up promotions supporting the Health Foundation today.

This year, donations from the Radiothon will go towards the purchase of a new GeneXpert 16 machine and a Pyxis medication system.

The GeneXpert 16 machine will help run more tests for COVID-19, Influenza, Tuberculosis and Gastrointestinal bacteria at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre Lab from 16 tests per day up to 128.

The Pyxis Medication Dispensing System helps dispense the right medication for the right patient at a scheduled time, and can alert nurses if a medication is running low or if a patient has received too much in a 24-hour period.

Only nurses can access it through user passwords and fingerprint identification.
