Manitoba Farmers Continue Harvest Operations Despite Recent Precipitation

Farmers in some parts of Manitoba are putting the finishing touches on harvest, while areas to the west still have a ways to go.

Manitoba Agriculture crop specialist Dane Froese says overall harvest progress in the province is now 67% complete, down from the 3 year average for this time of year of 76%. Harvest is 58% complete in the southwest region, and 70% complete in the northwest.

Froese says this past week saw the first killing frost of the season in the northwest region. The coldest temperature was minus 5 at Inglis.

Froese says heavy snow was reported in the Swan River area with accumulations up to 10 centimeters.
