Piapot First Nation Woman Has New Court Date

A Piapot First Nation woman, who has been committed to stand trial this fall on charges stemming from a fatal vehicle/pedestrian collision in the summer of 2019, has made another court appearance.

46-year-old Leah Pratt is charged with Dangerous Driving Causing Death and Criminal Negligence Causing Death, and will stand trial in Regina Court of Queen’s Bench on October 3rd, though her next pretrial appearance will be on June 17th.

Southey RCMP were called to the scene of the incident on August 24th, 2019, where a woman present confirmed she had struck the victim with her vehicle, on a driveway at a home on the reserve.

33-year-old Nolan Sugar was pronounced dead at a Regina hospital.
