Camping season in Saskatchewan provincial parks opens Thursday

Saskatchewan’s provincial parks will welcome back campers this Thursday (19th).

May long weekend usually marks the start of a new camping season, and the province reminds folks that an alcohol and cannabis ban will be in effect for the long weekend.

Cottages, rental cabins and any business serving liquor in licensed establishments in parks are not affected by the ban.

People are also reminded that daily and weekly park entry permits can be bought online and printed at home in advance of their visit.

If an annual entry permit has been purchased by hasn’t been delivered yet, campers will receive a temporary one via email that can be used until the permit arrives in the mail.

Guided park programs and events kick off in many provincial parks this weekend, as well as self-guided Park Discovery Packs.

For those looking to book a last-minute May long weekend trip, click on the “Camping this Weekend” feature on the Sask. Parks reservation website.
